Euthanasia – Coming to a nursing home near you?
A very real possibility it could be!
Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient ostensibly suffering with an incurable disease. In simple terms – euthanasia hastens natural death.
In hospice care near the end of someone’s life, workers are there to provide comfort and what is called “transitioning.” That is the period of time when someone moves from life to death. New evidence seems to be suggesting some are helping in that “transition.”
That then becomes a deliberate effort to end a life. Some call that “murder.”

The allegations are serious and point to the death of an elderly patient in a Catholic nursing home in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis. Eyewitnesses report her death occurred after she was deliberately deprived of food and water.
The story is real and includes eyewitness accounts from medical experts and those involved in the patient’s care. In addition, video of the patient just days before she died shows someone who is lucid and seemingly not in danger of dying. The story is convincing and alarming.
Euthanasia is already legal in Canada. While it is not yet legal in the United States, experts are warning the public that euthanasia and assisted suicide may soon become the law of our land.
CREDO of the Catholic Laity has already produced the powerful documentary Scandal – The Catholic Culture of Death. But there is more to the story and this latest program is yet another attempt to change our culture of death and bring life and dignity not only to the unborn, but also to the elderly whose lives might be in imminent danger. This program hopes to create awareness and protect the lives of anyone whose life is deemed to be worthless and unwanted.
