Leaders of Mercy

Truth without mercy is callused legalism. Mercy without truth is unhelpful sentimentality. As missionary disciples of Jesus Christ, we must be merciful witness to truth, and truthful sources of mercy. Only the unity of truth and mercy leads others to holiness, and represents faithful service to Christ and His Church.
Credo St. Louis is honored to welcome Bishop James Conley, Bishop of Lincoln, Nebraska, to speak our annual Christ the King forum. A convert to Catholicism, Bishop Conley was ordained a priest in 1985, and served the Church for ten years in Rome at the Congregation for Bishops, before receiving episcopal consecration himself in 2008. Now leading the Diocese of Lincoln, he has maintained the good model set in place by his predecessors, Bishops Glennon Flavin and Fabian Bruskewitz, focusing on solid Catholic education in all of his diocesan schools, reserving service at the altar to men, and encouraging priestly vocations, with dozens of seminarians currently studying in their seminary. He recently has taken a strong, public stance against the trend of transgenderism spreading across the country, steadfastly proclaiming the beauty of God’s teaching on sexuality. In all of his works, Bishop Conley has seen his life as a priest as a call to service and complete surrender to “God’s providential hand.”

Lenten Day of Recollection
Mark your calendar for Credo St. Louis’s annual Lenten Day of Recollection, hosted at the Oratory of SS. Gregory and Augustine in Creve Coeur.
Our retreat master will be Fr. Paul Hoesing, Dean of Seminarians and Director of Human Formation for Kenrick Seminary, with Holy Mass and confessions offered by Fr. Brian Harrison, O.S. The full schedule for the Day of Recollection as well as topics can be found on the attached flyer.
The charge for this Day of Recollection is $25 per person or $15 per student, which includes a catered luncheon.

The Truth of Christ in Marriage
Credo St. Louis is honored to welcome His Eminence, Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, as the guest speaker for our September dinner forum.
As former Archbishop of St. Louis current Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, His Eminence has a career of distinguished, long-standing dedication to the Church. His Eminence will be talking on The Truth of Christ in Marriage, a very important and timely topic for Catholics in the Western World.
The forum will be held on Sunday, September 13th at 6:00 pm at the Clayton (Crowne) Plaza Hotel in Clayton, Missouri. Cost of registration, which includes a full dinner and parking, is $35.00 per person, with a discounted student rate of $15.00 per person. Menu options are Beef Lasagne, Chicken Parmigiana, or Vegetable Medley, with a cash bar available. Registrations must be received by September 9th.
