Communique to St. Louis Catholics

Background:

It has been reported that SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital (Maternal and Fetal Care Department), a Catholic institution supported by the Archdiocese of St. Louis, has referred pregnant women with developmentally disabled unborn children to the Hope abortion center in Granite City, IL for abortions. Three recent instances of such referrals were discovered at the gates of the Hope abortion center by Catholic pro-life volunteers, who then investigated and documented their experiences.

SSM executives have refused to meaningfully engage in discussions and show no indication of changing their practices.
Surprisingly, the Archdiocese of St. Louis has refused to take action consistent with Church standards for addressing and investigating child abuse allegations that are at least credible.

Your devotion to Sacred Tradition is nothing other than devotion to Our Lord Jesus Christ Who faithfully and generously comes to us in the Church through the unbroken Apostolic succession, through the Church’s teaching, through her Sacred Liturgy, and through her canonical discipline. For that reason, I was always grateful for your apostolate in the Archdiocese of Saint Louis and am grateful to be with you on this most happy occasion. Viganò’s Advice re: Voting Fraud & Media Censorship

The need to trust in the Lord, especially during this time, was made clear by Abp. Carlo Maria Viganò in a letter he penned to the American people on the evening of the election.

Viganò encouraged Americans to take heart in the midst of “electoral fraud” and “the shameful attempts of the mainstream media to censor the truth of the facts in order to give their candidate the advantage.”
He urged the faithful to place their trust in God — “in this terrible hour.”

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE AMERICAN CATHOLIC BISHOPS

Dear Catholic Bishops,

The poet John Milton wrote: “The hungry sheep look up, and are not fed.” Church leadership is called upon to do the right thing, especially in difficult times: to speak the truth boldly and lovingly and to watch over those entrusted to their care. When bishops fail to fulfill this sacred obligation, the lay faithful are left feeling confused, neglected, and abandoned.

Such is the situation as we approach our national election in which a clear and obvious divide exists on essential matters related to earthly wellbeing and eternal welfare: the protection of God-given life from conception to natural death; the safeguarding of the family and the wellspring of sexuality; the dignity of all persons, including the rights of conscience and the freedom to live and worship without interference from the state or persecution from the culture.

The Democratic Party that once championed the civil rights of all has now become hostile to Christian faith and those who practice it. Their shrunken tent has no room for those who are pro-life, no room for those who profess what has been called mere Christianity, nor for any who believe in the value of patriotism insofar as patriotism embodies a natural preference for one’s own country.

Moreover, the Democratic presidential candidate himself can be considered Catholic in name only, for in nearly a half-century of public life he has routinely, repeatedly, and systematically rejected what the Church teaches: on life issues, on sexual morality, on religious liberty. When asked recently whether he would support an eight-year old’s decision to change gender, he answered in the affirmative.
