Monsignor Francis Xavier Blood

Director of the Mission Office, Archdiocese of St. Louis

Monsignor Blood was ordained a Priest of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis on June 30, 1979. Following two assignments as Associate Pastor, he was appointed to the Latin America Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.  He served in La Paz, Bolivia from 1988 to 1993. Returning to St. Louis, he served again in parishes as Associate Pastor and as Pastor. In 1995, he was named the first Director of Hispanic Ministry of the Archdiocese, and served in that role until 1997.

In 2004, Archbishop Raymond Burke appointed him Director of the Archdiocesan Mission Office. This seems to him providential: Msgr. Blood was ordained a Priest by Bishop Edward O’Meara, National Director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith for the United States, and named for one of the co-patrons of the missions: St. Francis Xavier.
